Job Summary


The Assistant Director represents the department across the university community, represents the Director in his/her absence when asked, and engages in responsibilities at the discretion of the Director. This position also functionally serves as the coordinator for all mental health services, policies, procedures and operations for the entire Student Counseling and Psychological Services department, as supervised by the Director. This position provides daily operations oversight for all for all functions associated with the Health Sciences campus location of Student Counseling and Psychological Services , including supervising all mental health/clinical services, and all employees at this location. This position also provides direct mental health care services to students. This position also collaborates with other units to develop methods to best serve the mental health needs of students, in collaboration with the Director.


Responsibilities


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Provide direct mental health care services to students


Initial psychological evaluations, Individual therapy, Couples therapy, Group therapy, Case management, Consultation, Emergency services, Other similar services that assist in the mental health and well being of students


Serve as Mental Health/Clinical Services Coordinator for Department at large


Ensures mental health services are accessible to students for triage, initial appointments, and follow up appointments including ensuring adequate placeholders for triage, initial appointments and follow up appointments are placed on clinicians schedules, as well as emergency rotation schedule. Leads weekly mental health case conference meetings. Collaborates with the Director to make mental health delivery system decisions, including managing clinician case loads and making decisions regarding delivery of mental health services. Collaborates with Director to revise as needed, mental health procedures, forms and operations.


Provides daily oversight for all operations associated with Health Sciences location of Student Counseling and Psychological Services


Serve as lead administrator for this location, in collaboration with Director. Serve as direct report for all staff working at the Health Sciences campus location. Manage mental health emergencies each day to determine how to best meet urgent and routine needs for students.  Manage daily schedules for all staff at this location, including leave request, staffing issues, leave requests, payroll and other similar tasks. Manage and assess office and facility needs for SCAPS Health Sciences in collaboration with Director.


Provides clinical supervision for clinicians at Health Science location


Providing direct clinical supervision for licensed or unlicensed clinicians, including review of mental health documentation, supervising trainees, providing consultation and assisting with diagnosis, case management decisions, and on and off campus referral decisions. Coordinating the facilitation of psychiatric hospitalization including the management of transportation services, mental health coordination, and notification, as needed.


Additional mental health outreach, and administrative responsibilities at the discretion and approval of the Director


Serving on treatment teams. Serving on university committees to ensure student mental health is incorporated as a factor in the planning, development, and delivery of services and programs across the institution. Assisting the Director in data collection, assessment program evaluation, and reports. Creating and providing outreach events, training, and prevention for the university community. Representing the Director and/or department in Director’s absence.

Required Qualifications


Masters Degree  in Psychology, Counseling or other related mental health field from an accredited institution. Experience providing direct mental health services to adults in a clinical setting. Licensed or License eligible in the state of Georgia: Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.


Preferred Qualifications


More than five years of experience working in a collegiate mental health setting, and at least three years of being fully licensed to practice independently as a licensed clinician. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, including Titanium. Overseeing all clinical operations of an outpatient mental health clinic. Experience in working with culturally diverse individuals and commitment to practicing from a multicultural humility perspective. Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health field.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


Educational, training and employment background in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related mental health disciplines. Background and experience in providing direct mental health services. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.


Shift/Salary/Benefits


Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
